    Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The most common cause of carpal tunnel syndrome is due to repetitive motion in work. The pain is aggravated further by forceful and repetitive use of the hand and wrists in industrial occupations. Other causes include pregnancy, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity and hypothyroidism.

    A condition in which the nerve running along your arm going through a passage in the wrist called carpal tunnel and ends in the hand is compressed.   The nerve is known as “Median Nerve”. The median nerve controls the movement and feeling of your thumb, and also the movement of all your fingers except your little fingers.

    Carpal tunnel syndrome has been associated with certain tasks including repetitive hand motion, awkward hand positions, strong gripping, mechanical stress on the palm and vibration. People who are at risk including typewriter, cashiers, hairdressers, sewers and etc.
